1 Timothy 6:1,3 KJV
 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
He must teach the words, doctrine of Christ, recall emphasis is faith in Christ.
1 Timothy 6:10 KJV
 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Those who err from the faith, are those say things otherwise faith in Christ, not loss of salvation
1 Timothy 6:12-13 KJV
 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
To fight here is via teaching, it means lay hold on the same eternal truth of faith in Christ alone
It has opposition
1 Timothy 6:20-21 KJV
 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
Err concerning the faith, is teach otherwise faith in Christ, in this instance knowledge and talks aside this
Let’s examine the second letter
2 Timothy 1:5 KJV
 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
Unfeigned faith is not salvation rather teaching, knowledge
2 Timothy 1:8 KJV
 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
It’s the gospel
2 Timothy 1:10-11 KJV
 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
What Christ did, we are called preachers of it
2 Timothy 1:13 KJV
 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
This sound doctrine, in faith and love in Christ.
2 Timothy 2:2 KJV
 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
This is what Timothy knew of Paul and was to commit to other men to be taught in the local church
2 Timothy 2:8 KJV
 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
This is the teaching, Christ raised from the dead
2 Timothy 2:16-18 KJV
 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
Some teach otherwise and it overthrew the faith of some, don’t forget it’s knowledge of faith in Christ
2 Timothy 2:19 KJV
 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
This is the iniquity...
Notice so far ,the issue had nothing to do with conduct but knowledge
2 Timothy 2:24-25 KJV
 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men , apt to teach, patient,  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
This is truth to acknowledge here
2 Timothy 3:8 KJV
 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
Some have erred from the faith ,never forget it’s nothing to do with salvation but knowledge
Let’s see a very focal scripture on this;
2 Timothy 3:15 KJV
 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
Faith in Christ!
Hence all doctrine which is for persuasion, correction and growth has this emphasis
2 Timothy 3:16 KJV
 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
What makes for sound doctrine is Faith in Christ only .
2 Timothy 4:3-4 KJV
 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
This should now make sense, turn away from faith in Christ alone
2 Timothy 4:7 KJV
 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
This is what Paul kept .
His teaching built on faith in Christ, alone and only.
Same with Titus
Titus 1:1-2 KJV
 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
2] In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
Truth is what God gave in Christ alone
Titus 1:3-4 KJV
 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
This is what should be preached only.
It’s the common faith
Titus 1:9 KJV
 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
Faithful word here is same as words of faith used earlier 1 Timothy 4:5-6
Faith in Christ, this is sound doctrine
Titus 1:13 KJV
 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
Sound in faith,faith in Christ alone
Titus 2:1-2 KJV
 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
Sound doctrine, sound in faith in Christ, teaching and knowledge.
Titus 2:10 KJV
 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
Teaching of salvation through faith in Christ!
Titus 2:13-14 KJV
 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Looks and observes what God did for us in Christ
Titus 2:15 KJV
 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
It’s must taught with gravity
Titus 3:4-6 KJV
 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
So the “Sound” in doctrine has its emphasis on faith in Christ alone. The health of a teaching must be measured by its emphasis on faith in Christ alone.
You can only be sound through the faith in Christ only...
