CLINTON — The 68-inch by 20-inch Magic Dust Scarf is among the items being featured in August at the Fair Trade Shop located at Stone Presbyterian Church, 8 S. Park Row.

The handcrafted items at the shop represent 36 different countries from around the world.

“I am proud of my work because I can use my own skills. I am a weaver and a stitcher —both — and work from home,” said Suchitra Majumdar of Nepal. “My work has not only made me self-reliant and financially capable, but also my sister who is an equal partner in my business.”

Hours at the Fair Trade Shop are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday in the shop and at the the Clinton Farmers Market located at the Village Green. The shop is also open every second Saturday of the month.

Purchasing fair trade items ensures artisans and small farmers fair wages and healthy working conditions, providing dignity, sustainable development and hope to marginalized people.
