CLINTON — The Hamilton College Department of Music presents two concerts to start the semester, Friday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 18.

Toglia and Trebicka, piano, will present Art Within Bounds: Four Centuries of Piano Four Hands by Women Composers at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16.

“Doc” Woods will present his annual Jazz Kickoff Concert at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.

Both events are in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center on the Hamilton College campus.

Art Within Bounds: Four Centuries of Piano Four Hands by Women Composers features music by various women composers such as Sophia Westenholz, Fanny Hensel, Amy Beach, Meredith Monk, and Hilary Tann.

Pianist Tina Toglia is a lecturer in piano at Hamilton College. She is an active soloist and chamber musician, and performs frequently throughout Central New York and the United States. She is a fan of jazz and popular music and her improv trio, Little Sunflower, performs throughout the region.

Pianist Ida Tili-Trebicka has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and China as orchestral soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. She is an associate professor of piano and chair of piano department in the Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University.

“Doc” Woods teams up with local favorites to perform Flow-Melodics, an all-new suite of “melodies from the cauldron of groove.”

Woods has written more than 650 pieces in all styles. His compositions have been performed by the Albany Symphony, the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, the Little Rock Symphony, the Tulsa Philharmonic, the Lafayette Symphony (Lafayette, Indiana), the Pro Musica Orchestra (Columbus, Indiana), the Central New York Jazz Orchestra, and the Salt City Jazz Collective.
