Exhibit will spotlight pre-schoolers’ works of art

The owl signifies wisdom and the silver moon enlightenment.

That’s the Owl and Silver Moon pre-school at Rome Art & Community Center, 308 W. Bloomfield St.

On Wednesday, the art center will host a free opening reception for the Owl and the Silver Moon pre-school’s first art exhibition in the Peach Lynch Library from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

During the event, registration for the preschool’s 2019-2020 school year will be available.

The Owl and The Silver Moon is a Montessori style pre-school. In September, it entered its second year of operation. The program offers high-quality hands-on learning, with a focus on the arts. The days are built around music, theater/drama, art, literature, and technology.

According to the American Montessori Society: “The Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood. Dr. Montessori’s Method has been time tested, with over 100 years of success in diverse cultures throughout the world.”

Owl and The Silver Moon runs concurrent with the Rome City School District year and accepts children ages 3 to 5. Currently, the session runs from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., however, an afternoon session will begin as the enrollment dictates.  Call the center for cost and more information on enrollment.
