The theme of Old Forge Library’s 2020 Annual Poetry and Illustration exhibit and contest is “My Story.”  Those interested in participating should enter poems and artwork based on that theme.

Entry is open to all students in grades K-12 and adults throughout Herkimer, Oneida and Madison Counties and the Town of Inlet. Entry deadline is Feb. 14. Please call the library at 315 369-6008 for specific details or for exhibit entry guidelines. Guidelines are also available online at  www.oldforgelibrary.org.

Judges for the poetry portion are writing coach and author David Hazard and local poet Melissa Macdonald.  Artists Stephen Fletcher and Greg Klein will serve as judges for the illustration portion.

There are four divisions for judging: grades K-4, grades 5-8, grades 9-12, and adult. A winner from each group, from both the poetry and illustration portions, will receive a $25 prize and a certificate.  Those poets and artists honored with an Honorable Mention will also receive a certificate.

Awards are announced and presented at the opening reception on March 4 at 5:30 p.m. Those honored with awards will have an opportunity to read and/or discuss their work.  All works received for the contest will be displayed at the library from March 4 – May 22.
