Jake Engler led the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill boys basketball team past Tri-Valley League foe Oneida, 60-50, at home on Thursday night.
Engler scored a team-high 19 points, including knocking down two three-pointers. Dewey Roden added a double-double for the Red Devils, scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds.
Nate Palmer tallied nine points and dished out five assists and Davey Moffett scored five points and grabbed 11 boards.
Alex Vaccaro scored a game-high 26 points for the Indians in the loss.
VVS improved to 9-1 overall and 4-1 in the TVL while Oneida dropped to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in TVL play. The Red Devils take the floor again on Sunday night at 6:30 as they take on St. Francis-Hamburgh at the Bishop Grimes Tournament.
Oneida is back in action tonight as they play host to New Hartford at 7.
Camden rolls to win
Wyatt Palmer poured in a game-high 20 points for the Camden in its 50-30 non-league win over host Altmer-Parish-Williamstown.
Cater Steria added 12 points for the Blue Devils and Colin Stace chipped in with nine points.
Camden is 3-7 overall on the season and takes the floor again tonight when it hosts Whitesboro in a TVL contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 7.
Wildcats suffer setback
In a Center State Conference crossover contest, Adirondack lost to visiting Little Falls, 40-31.
Andrew Fauvelle and Alex Gaylord both scored a game-high 13 points in the loss for the Wildcats. Gaylord made three three-pointers.
Adirondack is 3-8 on the season and returns to action on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Fulton-Montgomery Community College to take on Fonda-Fultonville at 4.
