OLD FORGE — View’s newest exhibition is “Mountain Air Painters: ADK Expressions en Plein Air,” June 15 to Aug. 11.
The works on display come from the Mountain Air Painters, a group of New York state and Adirondack artists who have been meeting weekly for several decades from spring through fall to paint together en Plein air —French for “in the open air” — throughout the Adirondacks.
The group keeps a long list of various painting locations, from downtown Old Forge, the Green Bridge, and McCauley Mountain to private camps tucked in and around one of the Fulton Chain of Lakes, and even lesser known locations like Hawkinsville Dam. The group adds more painting locations every year.
The medium for their works of art varies from painter to painter — watercolor, acrylic, oil or pastel, for instance. They all share an appreciation and respect for “their Adirondacks” and hope that their paintings inspire others to love and care for this unique area.
View gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 for guests and free for View members. For further questions or more information, visit ViewArts.org or call 315-369-6411.
