Cinema Capitol (230 W. Dominick St.) will present the comedy “Late Night” from Friday, July 26-Thursday, Aug. 1.
A late-night talk show host’s (Emma Thompson) world is turned upside down when she hires her first and only female staff writer (Mindy Kaling). Originally intended to smooth over diversity concerns, her decision brings about unexpectedly hilarious consequences as the two women who are separated by culture and generation become united by their love of a biting punchline. The movie also stars Max Casella, Hugh Dancy, John Lithgow, and Amy Ryan.
The Chicago Reader writes “it’s a fun movie that tackles a variety of issues, including sexism in the workplace, with panache.” The Chicago Sun-Times also writes “Thompson and Kaling are terrific as two women who are funny… and should never be underestimated.
“Late Night” runs 100 minutes and is rated R. Admission is $8, $7 for students and military, and $6 for Capitol Friends.
Tickets are available at the door and in advance from the Capitol box office (315-337-6453) and online at www.romecapitol.com.
Show times are Friday and Saturday at 4 and 7 p.m., Sunday at 1 and 4 p.m., and Monday-Thursday at 7 p.m. This movie will include captions for the hearing-impaired for the Friday 4 and Sunday 1 show times.
