Elmer C. “Pudge” Wright, 92, of Oneida, formerly of North Bay, passed away on Friday evening, January 4, 2019, at Oneida Health Extended Care and Rehabilitation Center where he had been a resident since September 2018.
He was born on March 28, 1926, in North Bay, the son of Charles P. and Susie Eckel Wright. Pudge proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army serving from 1944 to 1946. He then went on to graduate from Camden Central Schools, class of 1947.
On February 5, 1956, Pudge was united in marriage to Sheila Williams in the Park Methodist Church in Vernon Center.
He was employed as a wire drawer for Camden Wire for twenty-six years, retiring in 1988. He was previously employed by the Oneida Co. Highway Dept., the Russell Phelps Canning Factory in North Bay, and the Town of Vienna Highway Dept.
Pudge enjoyed tinkering especially his model make and brake gas engine.
Surviving besides his loving wife of sixty-two years, Sheila; are two daughters, Kimberly (Dean) Stedman, of The Colony, TX, and Melodyne (Steven) Darrow, of Chittenango; two grandchildren, Camille (Kevin) Colton, of Denton, TX, and Benjamin (Brittany) Stedman, of Wylie, TX; five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ryan, Leah, Heidi, and Hunter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pudge was predeceased by a son, Gary Wright in 1998.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at 12 p.m. (noon) at the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main St., Camden where the Rev. Marsha A. Madore will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
