EDITORIAL: Company’s expansion plan shows confidence in our region

We read with pleasure that another local manufacturer is expanding in our area.

The Light Connection, 132 Base Road, Oriskany, has broken ground on a 10,000-square foot expansion as a direct result of its continuous growth in the fiber optic cable market.

TLC was founded in 1999 with one manufacturing line. The company currently employs 90 associates and has expanded its manufacturing capabilities with 12 extrusion lines with more lines to be commissioned once this expansion is completed.

The expansion, which is expected to be completed in September, will increase the company’s manufacturing footprint by 25%, according to a company announcement.

The Light Connection’s (TLC) new building will be used as an inventory warehouse and will allow for additional manufacturing lines.

“We are extremely happy and excited as this new building will allow TLC to better serve our customers both domestically and globally as the demand for communication bandwidth continues to increase through fiber optic technology,” said Garry White, TLC’s president.

This decision by The Light Connection to expand is another example of a local company to its confidence in our region and its workforce as it looks toward prosperous years ahead.
