TOWN OF EATON — A Madison County man was charged with stabbing another man at his residence and then fleeing from police Friday.
State Police at Morrisville said they responded to 2853 Woodman Pond Road at 6 a.m. for a reported stabbing. Prior to troopers arriving, a 34-year-old man had been taken by private vehicle to Hamilton Hospital for treatment of a stab wound to the stomach.
Investigators learned on arrival that suspect Michael W. Reaume, 38, fled the scene into a heavily wooded area, and responding patrols established a perimeter, calling in K-9 units, troopers said.
Following a lengthy search, Reaume was taken into custody after he was seen walking in the area of Route 20 in the Town of Madison, troopers said. He was transported by ambulance to Hamilton Hospital for lacerations to his left arm, that were sustained during the earlier altercation, troopers said.
Reaume was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony, as well as fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all class A misdemeanors.
He will appear in Town Court.
