ALBANY — A Utica man registered a blood alcohol content of nearly three times the legal limit on the Thruway in Albany very early Sunday morning, according to law enforcement officials.
State police said David H. Austin, 45, of Utica, was driving on the Thruway at about 1 a.m. Sunday when his GMC Sierra pickup truck hit a sign. Troopers said Austin continued onward until his truck became disabled on the highway. Austin registered a blood alcohol content of 0.21% — nearly three times the legal threshold of 0.08%, troopers said.
Austin is charged with one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated, troopers said. He was released on an appearance ticket to Albany City Court for May 10.
