UTICA — Bill Fahy and Amanda Straney will perform the Northern version of Soldiers Joy, their original program based on battlefield letters written by Union soldiers from Utica and Rome, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Irish Cultural Center of the Mohawk Valley in Utica.
Interspersed with the stories, both humorous and heartbreaking, audience members will hear plenty of Civil War era songs.
Fahy plays banjo, while Amanda plays fiddle, and both sing. They’re members of local Irish and folk groups Craobh Dugan-O’Looney and Mighty Craic.
