UTICA — Frank Kobliski has been named general manager of the Adirondack Railway Preservation Society, Inc., and its operating entities, effective Jan. 1. The new responsibility is in addition to his role as president of the organization’s board of directors.

“Our organization in the year ahead will experience significant growth in our operations and products. By year end our rail operations will become the longest excursion passenger railroad operating east of the Mississippi, with regular service from Utica to Tupper Lake. Mr. Kobliski’s extensive senior management experience in the transportation industry and his eight-year service record on the Board will support a smooth transition,” said Steven Potter, vice president of the board of directors.

“Our staff and business partners welcome this announcement,” he added.

The additional role for Kobliski is anticipated to last through year-end. The executive committee will begin seeking a permanent general manager during the latter half of the year.

The Adirondack Railway Preservation Society, Inc. (ARPS) operates the Adirondack Railroad, the Adirondack Scenic Railbike Adventure, and Peachtree Railbikes. The non- profit, volunteer-based organization is headquartered in Utica. Since 1992 it has carried more than 1.8 million passengers, operating on the former New York Central Adirondack Division line.
