Drunk driving charged following traffic stop

TOWN OF NEW BREMEN — A man was charged with driving under the influence of more than twice the legal limit of alcohol following a traffic stop on Kirschnerville Road early Sunday.

Lewis County Sheriff’s deputies said they spotted Shane P. Weeks, 34, of 3383 Douglas St., Port Leyden, crossing the center line multiple times and drive off the right side of the roadway before being pulled over at 12:07 a.m.

The driver was brought to Lewis County Public Safety Building where he registered a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent, deputies said.

Weeks was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated second offense in 10 years, driving while intoxicated, refusal to take a breath test and several state Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He will appear in Town Court.
