Drunk driving charged after driver found slumped over

A 24-year-old woman was charged with drunken driving after law enforcement officials said she was found slumped over behind the wheel in a snowbank on Gansevoort Avenue.

Police said Leiw Fay, of Park Drive Manor, was found in the 200 block at about 3:44 a.m. Monday slumped behind the wheel of her motor vehicle, which had crashed off the street into a snowbank. Police said Fay was initially unresponsive when the officer tried to wake her.

Police said Fay registered a blood alcohol content of 0.14%, nearly twice the legal threshold of 0.08%. Fay is charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or greater, imprudent speed and failure to use designated lane, authorities said.

She is scheduled to appear in City Court.
