Drugs discovered at Marcy prison, guards union officials report

TOWN OF MARCY — A quantity of suboxone strips were discovered in inmate mail at the Marcy Correctional Facility.

Twenty suboxone strips were discovered inside a food mixture mailed from Rochester, and 111 strips were discovered hidden between two sets of paper glued together, which had been mailed from downstate, according to the New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association.

The drugs were both found on May 12 during routine mail processing by correctional officers.

Then on May 13, authorities said quantities of suboxone and synthetic marijuana were discovered in a package of Pop Tarts mailed from the Albany area.

Authorities said the drugs were seized and the investigations are ongoing.
