Drug charges follow traffic stop
ROME — Quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine were seized during a traffic stop on West Liberty Street in Rome early Saturday, Rome Police said.
Police said Brian K. Beauvais, 38, of Rome, was spotted driving eastbound on West Liberty Street on a suspended license at about 7 a.m. Saturday. Once stopped, police said they seized 5.2 grams of fentanyl and 3.8 grams of meth. Beauvais is charged with two counts of fourth-degree possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, and one count of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.
Passenger Casey J. Seamans, 42, of Rome, was charged with one count of seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, police stated. Both men are scheduled to appear in Rome City Court. According to police records, this is Beauvais’ second arrest this year, and Seamans’ fifth arrest so far this year.
Authorities said on March 22, Beauvais was charged with harassment, imprisonment and menacing for threatening his estranged wife with a machete at Rome Towers. Authorities said on Jan. 20, Seamans was charged with weapon possession after he was found with a wooden club while parked in the Ace Hardware parking lot at 4 a.m. Police said on April 15, Seamans was found passed out in a vehicle on Kossuth Street with a quantity of methamphetamine.
Authorities said on April 28, Seamans attacked a woman in a vehicle on West Bloomfield Street, including hitting her with a rubber mallet. On May 4, police said Seamans was found with a knife and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on Black River Boulevard.
All previous cases remain ongoing in court.
