Drug charge follows traffic stop, law enforcers report

A Rome woman was found with a felony amount of cocaine during a traffic stop on East Dominick Street Friday afternoon, according to law enforcement officials.

Police said Jessica L. Bristol, 28, of Black River Boulevard, was pulled over for an expired registration on East Dominick Street at about 2 p.m. Friday. Police said Bristol was found to have open arrest warrants out of the Town of New Hartford and she was taken into custody.

Passenger Barbara J. Cutler, 52, was also found with an open bench warrant, authorities said, and she was also taken into custody.

The other passenger in the vehicle did not have a license, so the vehicle was set to be towed.

Before it was towed, police said the vehicle was searched and they found Cutler’s purse. Police said Cutler’s purse contained a quantity of cocaine.

Cutler is charged with one count of third-degree possession of a controlled substance, a class B Felony, police stated. She is scheduled to appear in City Court.
