MARCY — A DroneFest event will be held Sept. 28 at SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s Wildcat Field, announced the local CNY Drones community organization.
The event will combine the 4th annual Drone Info Day and the 3rd annual NEON Night Race event “for a celebration of all facets of drone interest,” according to the announcement.
Admission is free. Small donations are suggested for certain activities that benefit participating student clubs, the announcement said.
The public is invited at 5 p.m. to an interactive display area in the Wildcat Field House Lobby. FARM-i-GEDDON, a 2020 Team Drone Challenge including an indoor competition for ages 12 and up, will be highlighted along with drone exhibits, activities and invited guest and club displays.
In addition, the NEON Night drone race will begin at 7 p.m. It is presented as a MultiGP drone racing league event, with invited racers attending from across New York and beyond, said CNY Drones.
DroneFest is presented by CNY Drones in cooperation with the SUNY Academy of Model Aeronautics Student Club, SUNY Fabrication Club, SUNY Baja Club, SUNY IEEE (Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers Club) and SUNY 3D Printing & Design Club. CNY Drones is a volunteer-run, community-based not-for-profit under the fiscal agency of the Griffiss Institute.
