MARCY — A Drone Tech Meet will be Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Donovan Hall’s Center for Global Advanced Manufacturing, hosted by the CNY Drones group and SUNY Poly’s Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Student Club.
The event is open to persons age 11 and up who are interested in learning about drones, and those already involved in flying. The donation is $5 at the door.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions, drone gear and current projects, according to an announcement by CNY Drones.
Indoor flying of Tiny Whoop class drones is permitted during the event, while AMA members with current identification can fly outside on campus in specified AMA Club flight zones. Current drone enthusiasts and those new to drones can mingle, exchange ideas and discuss the latest technology improvements for recreational drone use, said CNY Drones.
The event includes updates on summer and fall drone races, introductory programs and the kick-off for Forest Fury, the CNY Drones 2019 STEM (science, technology, engineering, math)-based Team Drone Challenge.
