Driver ticketed, injured in crash in Augusta

Posted

AUGUSTA — One driver was ticketed and hospitalized after losing control of their vehicle due to high speeds on Barker Road late Thursday night, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies said Francesca M. Matteson, 20, of Augusta, was westbound on Barker Road at about 10:11 p.m. when she lost control of her 2008 Honda Civic while rounding a curve at an unsafe speed. Deputies said the Honda crossed over the eastbound lane, went off the south shoulder and crashed head-on into a ditch.

The Honda overturned and came to rest on its roof. Deputies said Matteson was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Matteson was also ticketed for the crash and is scheduled to appear in Augusta Town Court.
