Driver ticketed after falling sleep at wheel and crashing into ditch

TOWN OF CAMDEN — A 36-year-old man was ticketed and hospitalized after he fell asleep behind the wheel on Wolcott Hill Road early Sunday morning, according to law enforcement officials.

Sheriff’s deputies said Robert Jacobs, of Annsville, was northbound on Wolcott Hill at about 6:30 a.m. when he fell asleep in his 2016 Jeep Compass.

Deputies said the Jeep went off the road into a ditch near Waldron Road. Jacobs suffered minor injuries to his head and neck and was treated at Rome Health, deputies stated. He was also ticketed for failure to keep right, authorities said. He is scheduled to appear in Town Court.
