Driver injured after tractor trailer crashes into Sauquoit Creek
NEW HARTFORD — A tractor trailer crashed into the Sauquoit Creek in New Hartford on Wednesday, according to the New Hartford Police Department.
Police said the tractor trailer was eastbound on Red Hill Road around noon when the driver lost control at the intersection with Oneida Street.
The tractor trailer went off the shoulder, down a driveway, over an embankment and came to rest stretched across the Sauquoit Creek.
The driver, whose identity was not released, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities stated.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police said the state Department of Environmental Conservation was on scene Wednesday afternoon to assess any impact to the creek.
Crews were expected to be at the creek into the night to remove the crashed vehicle and trailer.
