LOWVILLE — A Lewis County man registered a blood alcohol content of nearly three times the legal limit after law enforcers said another person placed their own car behind him to stop him from driving away.

Sheriff’s deputies said they were called out to a parking lot off Shady Avenue at about 12:27 a.m. for a disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies said they found Cody M. Cannon, 27, of Tillman Road, Lowville, standing in the open door of his vehicle. Deputies said Cannon had just backed his vehicle into another vehicle, which had been purposefully parked behind him by witnesses to prevent him from driving away.

Deputies said the witnesses knew Cannon to be drunk.

Cannon registered a blood alcohol content of 0.23%, nearly three times the legal threshold of 0.08%, deputies stated. Cannon is charged with one count each of driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and unsafe backing, deputies said. He was issued appearance tickets for Village Court.
