Driver, 76, hurt in accident, ticketed for following too closely

TOWN OF MARSHALL — A 76-year-old man was hospitalized following a rear-ending on Route 12 Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies said Colleen Baldwin, 55, of Waterville, was northbound on Route 12 at about 4 p.m. and stopped to make a left turn onto Lewis Road.

Deputies said Baldwin’s 2019 Ford was then struck from behind by a 2008 Toyota, driven by Clarence Morgan, 76, of Sauquoit.

Baldwin’s vehicle came to rest on Lewis Road, and Morgan’s vehicle went off the east shoulder and came to rest in a field.

Authorities said Morgan suffered a minor cut on his hand and complained of chest pain, and he was taken to Community Hospital in Hamilton.

Morgan was also ticketed for following too closely, deputies stated. He is scheduled to appear in Town Court.
