Dragojevic connects for hat trick in RFA soccer triumph


The Rome Free Academy boys soccer team defeated Central Valley Academy, 4-0, on Monday in rainy conditions at the Stadium as Oliver Dragojevic netted a three-goal hat trick.

Marcos Ortiz had the other goal for the Black Knights. Assists went to Amanuel Mellace, who had two, and one each to Ben Miller and Pat Balog.

Chase Coluccio made two saves as the starting goalkeeper and Isaac Carlson made one save as a substitution.

HP boys win at home

The Holland Patent boys soccer team defeated Sherburne-Earlville, 3-2, at home, as Jack Mahanna had a goal and an assist.

The other goal scorers for the Golden Knights were Aiden Woods and Sawyer Locke. Goalie Jonathan Tolpa made four saves.

Rome gymnasts loses twice

The RFA gymnastics team opened its season with a pair of losses to New Hartford, 140.15 to 103.35, and Proctor High of Utica, 106-103.35, at Valley Gymnastics.

Against Proctor, RFA gymnasts earned several top-three finishes. Brianna Daniello finished second in the vault and balance beam and was third in the all-around, Taylor Griffin finished second and Alex Tapia finished third on the bars, and Megan Magnanti placed second in the floor exercise.

New Hartford took the top three spots in each event against RFA.
