Several dozen people attended a prayer meeting in front of the Redeemer Church, 129 N. Washington St. on Sunday morning.
Church Pastor Mark Schilling held the gathering for people to come together and simply pray together, albeit with social distancing in place, for local communities and others across the nation in the wake of protests, many which turned violent, following the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.
Schilling said that the gathering was designed so that people could come together and pray together for healing — physical, social and economic.
"Our nation is facing so much. We need healing," Schilling said. "We are peacefully gathering to pray for our nation," he added.
