TOWN OF BOONVILLE — A washout of dirt and trees was cleared off Route 46 by the state Department of Transportation this morning, the second such pile of debris in the past week.

Public Information Officer James Piccola said, “We had a small sliding, which contained a couple of small trees” along Route 46 near Pixley Falls. Piccola said DOT crews responded to the scene to clean up about four loads of debris, which had slid down the nearby cliff. He said the crews did not need to close the roadway during the clean-up.

“They’re looking at some other areas that are sketchy because of the winter thaw and the rains,” Piccola stated. Another, smaller washout was cleaned up along Route 46 Saturday morning, he noted.

“We’ll continue to monitor the area,” Piccola said.

If drivers come across such debris piles in the roadway, Piccola advised calling 9-1-1, and the dispatchers will notify the proper agency for the clean-up.
