Dorothy E. Knouse Blades, 85, of Westmoreland, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at the Pines in Utica. Born in Rome on July 6, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mildred (Bissell) Beck. On June 10, 1999, she was united in marriage to Arthur Blades, Jr. He passed away on July 23, 2008.
Dorothy worked as a nurse’s aid for many years at Rose Hospital and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.
Dorothy was a loving mother who dedicated her life to her children. Family meant the world to her and Dorothy was happiest when she was with hers.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Ed) Fears of Washington; three sons, Glenn Beck (George Tulloch) of Utica, Dennis Knouse of Westmoreland and Greg (Brenda) Morton of Florida; four sisters, Florence Wilson, Patricia (Bill) Lesher, Alice (Stanley) Daskiewich and Ethel (Joe) Lawler; six grandchildren, Melissa, Karrie, Dennis Jr., Rachel, Timothy and Victoria; two great-grandchildren; members of the Blades family; several nieces and nephews; and two pets, her cat Peanut and dog Vicky. She was predeceased by her sister, Carol Glod; brother, Ronald Beck; grandson, John; and her longtime companion, Frank Brockway.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday prior to the service from 1-3 p.m.
