Sovena USA, one of the largest olive oil companies in the world and based in Rome on the Griffiss Business and Technology Park, recently donated nearly 300 bottles of olive oil and $5000 to local charities.
During Thanksgiving, Sovena donated its Olivari Marmelo Estate Reserve Extra Virgin Olive Oil to Feed Our Vets, Utica Rescue Mission and Rome Rescue Mission. Then during Christmas, Sovena donated $1,250 each to Feed Our Vets, Utica Rescue Mission, Rome Rescue Mission and the Karing Kitchen in Oneida.
The donations were made on behalf of all of Sovena’s employees, company officials said.
“We considered our company to be fortunate during a difficult year, and it was very important to us to give back to our community,” managing director Enrique Escudero said. “We chose several local charities that mean a lot to us, and to this community. We are so thankful for all that these organizations do.”
The Utica and Rome Rescue Missions offer services for their community needs, including emergency shelter, meals, supportive permanent housing, employment resources and spiritual care. Feed Our Vets provides free food assistance to more than 20,000 veterans and their family members. Karing Kitchen is a soup kitchen that helps feed those in need in the Oneida area.
With a global presence and servicing more than 70 countries, Sovena Group is the largest olive oil company in the world, constantly inspiring people to eat healthier and tastier by using olive oil, the company’s announcement said, adding that Sovena is involved in every step of the supply chain – from the olive tree to the store shelf – and owns tens of thousands of olive groves worldwide.
Its onsite quality control lab in Rome helped make it the first olive oil plant in the world to obtain Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 3 certification, the announcement continued. For more information about Sovena, go online to SovenaGroup.com.
