The number of children with prediabetes and diabetes is growing. For this age group, excess weight is the number-one risk factor., organizers said. Children and teens may be able to prevent Type 2 diabetes or delay the onset of diabetes for many years with some simple lifestyle changes. Even small changes can result in big rewards.
Losing even a small amount of weight will help, and losing weight is hard. Getting the whole family involved is the best approach, organizers said. Well-balanced meals for diabetes prevention make healthy meals for everyone.
