WESTMORELAND — A Photoshopped picture led law enforcers to investigate a potential threat at Westmoreland High School Thursday morning.
Sheriff’s deputies said students at the school saw a potentially threatening picture on social media and reported it to administration at about 11:45 a.m. Thursday.
Deputies said it was a picture of a student in a classroom with what appeared to be a rifle barrel sticking out of their coat.
Deputies spoke with both the student who took the picture and the student in the picture and discovered that the photo of the gun barrel was digitally faked and there was no real weapon.
Authorities said the students and staff were never in danger.
The investigation is continuing, the law enforcement officials added.
