Departments battle barn fire

NEW HARTFORD — Three volunteer fire departments spent Friday morning battling a large barn fire in Chadwicks.

The alarm was raised at 6:17 a.m. for a barn fire at Collins Knoll Farm at 9499 Elm St., just north of Sauquoit. Firefighters from Willowvale, Clayville and New Hartford arrived to find a fully involved fire. Crews battled the blaze throughout the morning.

The Collins Knoll Farm posted on its Facebook page that no animals or people were harmed in the fire.

“‘Thank you won’t ever be enough, but the words come from the bottom of all of our hearts,” farm owners posted on social media.

“The brave firefighters of several departments and our wise crew went above and beyond. No one was hurt and all animals are safe.”

The barn is believed to be a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
