WHITESBORO — Epicurean Delight’s 2016 People’s Choice Award once again went to Delta Lake Inn.
The annual event held Sunday, hosted by Hart’s Hill Inn on Clinton Street, is a major fund-raiser for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. in New Hartford.
Delta Lake Inn, 8524 Fish Hatchery Road, offered attendees the restaurant’s famous white chocolate bread pudding, along with new featured entrees: seared ahi tuna and braised short ribs served with mushroom risotto.
Owner Mike Lynskey said it is the third or fourth time Delta Lake Inn has won the People’s Choice Award at the event in the last six years since the award was created. However the last two years, the honor went to Tailor & the Cook in Utica.
“We participate” in Epicurean Delight “each year because it’s a good cause,” Lynskey said. “We don’t go there just to show up. We actually use it as an advertising opportunity and to go show people what Rome has to offer. We take the competition very seriously, and we make sure we go show them our best.”
Delta Lake Inn was one of 26 restaurants from throughout the county to participate. Epicurean Delight is held each spring at Hart’s Hill Inn — an elegant food tasting that features the area’s finest restaurants.
All proceeds raised at Epicurean Delight go to support programs and end-of-life care, serving families in Oneida, Herkimer and eastern Madison counties. More than 450 attended, raising approximately $36,000, Hospice organizers said.
