Deadline looms for applications for county’s Agricultural District #5

Posted

UTICA — The Oneida County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board will be wrapping up its New York State Certified Agricultural District 5 required eight-year review.

District 5 includes properties within the towns of Kirkland, New Hartford, Westmoreland and Whitestown.

This is a voluntary program and applications should be sent before Thursday, March 31, to Oneida County Planning Department, 321 Main St., Utica, NY 13501.

Residents who previously had their land in a State Certified Agricultural District received a letter and application for renewal. Properties with ownership changes also received the same information.

New owners must return their application in order to continue to be included in a New York State Certified Agricultural District.

Applications can be downloaded at:
http://cceoneida.com/agriculture/ag-economic-development/oneida-county-farmland-protection.

The Oneida County Farmland Protection Board is vitally interested in furthering the Agricultural District Program and maintaining it as a viable part of the agricultural scene in Oneida County.

If you reside in one of these towns and did not receive a notification but would like to participate in this program, contact Remi Link, Cornell Cooperative Extension Oneida at 315-736-3394 x111 or rl368@cornell.edu or Matt Pawlusik, Oneida County Department of Planning at 315-798-5710.
