CHITTENANGO — Clear Path for Veterans is partnering with Play for Your Freedom to offer a day of sports, fitness, and camaraderie for veterans and military members from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Participants in this complimentary event will enjoy a flag football game with an adaptive option available, as well as many other sports and fitness activities.

“The greatest aspect of sports is the opportunity to play them,” said Play for Your Freedom founder David Lionheart, who focuses on fitness and peer to peer support to help veterans and their families transition from military life to civilian life. “We will be welcoming veterans of all ages and abilities to join us in our second-annual Football Classic. Come out to have some fun, make friends and play some football.”

While at the event, participants will enjoy a friendly game of touch football, adaptive football, wheelchair basketball, other fitness activities, as well as a complimentary lunch prepared by Clear Path’s Chef and
Culinary Team. Additional
organizations joining Clear Path and Play for Your Freedom for this event include MoveAlong Inc., Team Red, White, and Blue, and the Syracuse VA Gerofit
Program.

“Clear Path For Veterans is excited to bring this great event with our Hudson Valley community partner Play For Your Freedom to Central New York,” said Clear Path’s Hudson Valley Peer Support Manager Peter Maraday. “It promises to be not just a day of fun, football, and great food, but also a chance to learn about and experience adaptive sporting activities regardless of your circumstances.”

This event will take place rain or shine, so participants are encouraged to check the weather before arriving to be sure they have appropriate apparel.
