CLINTON  — The Fair Trade Shop at Stone Presbyterian Church, 8 S. Park Row, will feature Dadoo Ceramics from Khurja, India this month.

The Crouching Cat Planter is just one example of the pieces of ceramics available, as well as several other unique hand-crafted items from 36 different countries. Omavati found sustainability when she joined the talented team of Dadoo Ceramics in Khurja, India and 18 years later, Omavati has become an expert glazer of ceramics. Now a proud grandmother, this job has brought stability to her family and supported their education.

The Fair Trade Shop, which helps support artisans like Omavati, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday in the shop at the church, as well as during the Clinton Farmers Market at the Village Green on Thursdays during the summer months and every second Saturday of the month at the shop.

Purchasing fair trade items ensures artisans and small farmers fair wages and healthy working conditions, providing dignity, sustainable development and hope to marginalized people.
