Culvert replacement to close Dewey Road, Lawrence Street intersection
ROME — The intersection of Dewey Road and Lawrence Street in south Rome will be closed for construction starting on Monday, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
The construction project is to replace a culvert. State officials said the intersection will remain closed through late December.
Dewey Road will remain accessible to local traffic from Route 26. Motorists who are traveling along southbound Lawrence Street will be directed to a signed detour taking them to Dix Road and from there to northbound Route 26, from where they can access Dewey Road.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
