Credit union to help members impacted by shutdown

AmeriCU Credit Union is assisting members affected by the current partial federal government shutdown by offering interest-free furlough loans, fee refunds, and penalty-free certificate withdrawals, the company announced.

AmeriCU said it is seeking to help reduce financial burdens of shutdown-related furloughs for its members.

"We want to help alleviate the financial stress that a shutdown like this could cause our members,” said Ron Belle, chief experience officer for AmeriCU. “We’re doing everything we can to make sure we’re here for our members with the right assistance and services when and where they need it.”

Any AmeriCU members affected by the partial government shutdown should visit their local Financial Center or call AmeriCU’s Member Service Center at 800.388.2000 for details, the company said.

AmeriCU, which has several area locations including Rome, serves nine counties in central and northern New York.
