Crash sends four to hospital

TOWN OF VERONA — Four people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Route 31 and Stoney Brook Road Monday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies said Molly Walston, 23, of Rome, was eastbound on Stoney Brook at about 10:20 a.m. when she failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign, while taking a northbound turn onto Route 31. Deputies said Walston’s 2017 Ford Explorer was stuck on the driver side front fender by a southbound vehicle driven by Julia Ormsbee, 62, of Schenectady.

Ormsbee suffered an injury to her lower right leg, while two of her passengers also suffered minor injuries, deputies said. All three were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Deputies said Walston complained of abdominal pain and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Hartford for evaluation.

Deputies said Walston was ticketed for failure to yield and is scheduled to appear in Town Court.
