A Syracuse man was hospitalized after he swerved to avoid a small animal on Route 49 Monday evening, causing his car to roll over several times.
Sheriff’s deputies said Shery Varghese, 37, was westbound on Route 49 when he attempted to pull off onto the exit ramp to Erie Boulevard East at 6:30 p.m. Deputies said Varghese was heading into the city when a small animal entered the roadway, causing Varghese to swerve to avoid the animal.
Authorities said Varghese’s 2017 Kia sedan hit a guide rail and rolled over several times, before coming to rest on its roof. Varghese was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
Varghese was ticketed for changing lane unsafely, deputies stated.
