Crash into pole sends two to hospital

WESTMORELAND — Two people were hospitalized after their car crashed into a utility pole on Route 5 Tuesday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies said Robert Glickman, 73, of New Hartford, was eastbound at about 11 a.m. when his Honda Accord crossed over both lanes and into a yard off the south shoulder. Deputies said the Honda struck a utility pole in the yard and came to rest in a ditch.

Glickman and his passenger, Kathleen Glickman, 63, were both taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica for treatment, authorities said. Robert Glickman was ticketed for moving from lane unsafely. He is scheduled to appear in Town Court.
