County has 123 new COVID-19 cases


In Oneida County, there were 123 new positive cases of COVID-19 and one new virus-related death on Thursday, Sept. 30.

Looking at statewide numbers, by Friday evening, there were 5,187 new cases reported since Thursday’s count and there were 37 new virus-related deaths across New York.

Addressing infection numbers, Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement, “New Yorkers are continuing to make progress in the fight against COVID … While trends remain positive, it is important we remain cautious and do our part to stop this pandemic. Wash your hands, wear a mask, and get vaccinated - it’s as simple as that.”

The positivity rate for the county was 4%.

There were 42 Oneida County residents hospitalized (28 unvaccinated/14 vaccinated) with 28 at Mohawk Valley Health System, seven at Rome Health and seven out of the county.

The positivity rate for the Mohawk Valley was 4.72%.
