In an apparent return to normalcy after over two years of the world wading through the coronavirus pandemic, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente will deliver the State of the County address at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6.

The speech will be held at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Shenendoah Clubhouse, 5218 Patrick Road in Verona. This week Picente said being able to deliver the speech in person was refreshing and a symbol “that we are getting back together.”

Picente said the speech itself will highlight forward motion for the Oneida County community.

Also, will reflect on what the county - and world - has experienced the last two years.

“What we learned. What we need to fix, and a path forward,” Picente said, adding that while navigating Oneida County through the last two years, he has been able to pick up on issues to fix, change and strengthen the county in order to bounce back faster if hard times strike again.

Those issues include boosting broadband internet access and addressing daycare issues for families juggling remote work and education.

Picente will deliver the speech to a live, in-person audience. In 2021, Picente delivered the speech via a video and there was no speech in 2020.

This year, the event will also be livestreamed on the Oneida County Government Facebook page. A luncheon starts at noon and the speech starts at 1 p.m.

Community members interested in attending are required to register with Amanda Carroll in the county executive’s office by phone at 315-798-5800 or by email at: acarroll@ocgov.net.
