Cottage Lawn Farmers Market to open for fall season
ONEIDA — The Madison County Historical Society’s Cottage Lawn Farmers’ Market has announced it will continue this fall on the first and third Tuesdays of September and October.
The market will be open on Sept. 6 and Sept. 20; Oct. 4 and Oct. 18, from 2 to 6 p.m. on the grounds of the Madison County Historical Society, 435 Main St., and will feature local, seasonal produce, eggs, herbs, soaps, maple products, honey, poultry, beef and other items.
In addition to the fall market, the Historical Society is also planning a winter indoor market that will run on Tuesdays, Nov. 1, and Dec. 6, from 2 to 6 p.m.. The winter indoor market will offer a holiday shopping experience where artisans from the Madison County Craft Festival will join the market. Plans are being made to have entertainment and themed weeks focusing on wellness, families, and recognizing various service organizations. Other weekly activities offered include guided house tours and storytelling.
There are a variety of farmers, artisans, independent consultants, food trucks, and food vendors participating in the fall market:
• Tom Stone, of Stone Brothers Farm and Greenhouse in Canastota, will sell fresh seasonal fruits, vegetables, eggs, honey, and maple syrup;
• Carolyn and Roy Peters, of Freedom Farm in Verona, will sell USDA grass-fed beef, free-range eggs, free-range chicken, seasonal fruits and vegetables, fruit pies, jams and jellies, cookies, and bread;
• Ryan Reilly, of Vernon Farm and Market, will sell organic seasonal fruits and vegetables and other merchandise;
• Ray and Kim Harosia, of Harosia Honey and Produce in Taberg, will sell raw honey, cut honeycomb, beeswax, fresh herbs, and seasonal fruits and vegetables;
• Bob Faduski, of Bob’s Wooden Trivets in Oneida, will showcase handmade wooden trivets and other items;
• Debbie Tillman, of Debbie’s Gift World of Cicero, will sell soft soy wax (sprinkles), warmers, accent shades, and soaks;
• Lisa Fish, of Magpie Mercantile of Oneida, will feature originally designed semi-precious stone and beaded jewelry wrapped with wire;
• Michelle Sebastian, of Missy’s Rings and Things of Rome, will showcase handmade gemstone, crystal, blown glass, and leather jewelry;
• Ash Lovett, of Flora & Fauna Farm of Oneida, will sell yarn and wool from her flock;
• Justin and Shaena Trievel, of The Yellow House of Chittenango, will be at the market with their homestead-based small-batch jams, jellies, rustic loaves of baked bread, and a variety of fruit cookies;
• Brandi Gall, of Wooden Moon Studio of Deansboro, will sell wooden flower art wreaths, mobiles, and ornaments;
• Raven Brown, of Raven’s Cups and Stuff of Oneida, will sell hand-etched glassware and other items;
• Amy Jakacki, of Ma’s Soaps, will feature crochet and embroidered products; and
• Mallory Galavotti, of Mix it Up Creations of Oneida, will be at the fall market with her decorated sugar cookies and other items.
Madison County Historical Society officials encourage nonprofits to join the Cottage Lawn Farmers’ Market to recognize the many dedicated service organizations within the community.
The Cottage Lawn Farmers’ Market will once again welcome New York State Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Checks at the market. The New York State Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program consists of two programs: the Women, Infants, and Children Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program and the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.
Those who are eligible for these programs are provided checks to redeem for fresh, local fruits and vegetables at participating farmers’ markets and farm stands.
