Corrections officers seize drugs

Roughly 24 ounces of marijuana and other drugs were seized at the Mohawk and Marcy state prisons over the past two weeks, according to the union representing corrections officers.
Since Feb. 16, officers found the drug suboxone hidden inside five packages at the Mohawk and Marcy correctional facilities, said officials with the New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association. Over that same time period, officials said they also seized a total of 24 ounces of marijuana and a quantity of synthetic marijuana.
In one instance, a package contained a bag of gummy candies, but the candies did not match the branding on the bag, authorities said. The gummies were determined to contain marijuana. In a second package, officers at Mohawk Correctional Facility in Rome found 55 pages of paper that had been sprayed with synthetic marijuana.
All drugs were seized and investigations are ongoing, officials said.
