Corn and cars to highlight annual Schuyler extravaganza
SCHUYLER — The 22nd annual Schuyler Car and Corn Extravaganza will take place Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Town of Schuyler Recreation Center, 282 Wood Lane, Utica.
Enjoy a full day of fun for families, friends, and pets including children’s bounce houses, axe throwing, hot air balloon rides, hay rides, face painting, food trucks, a beer tent, wine slushies, exhibits from the New York State Police and the Mercy Flight Medic Helicopter, live music from The Showtime Trio, a dog show which all can enter and more.
To enter the car show there is a $5 donation to the Christopher Newtown Memorial Fund. There will be trophies and awards for the Top 30, People’s Choice, Best of Show, Best Paint, as well as door prizes, gas cards and dash plaques to the first 100 vehicles.
The corn on the cob eating contest, with a $1,000 cash prize, is open to those ages 18 and older.
The event opens at 3 p.m. and ends after a fireworks display at dusk. Free admission, rain or shine.
