Copper City Community Connection recognizes recent active lifestyle award recipients


ROME — The Copper City Community Connection, 305 E. Locust St., has recognized its most recent President’s Active Lifestyle Award recipients.

Elizabeth Pettinelli, Mary E. McNeil, Phyllis Didio, Ruth Weltz, Darlene Hertel, Carol Acomb and Harriet Brennan worked over an eight-week period to achieve the healthy eating and physical activity goals established by the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition. The awardees achieved 150 minutes of physical activity each week, along with meeting the healthy eating goals by eating six of the nine components of the healthy eating pattern or limiting added sugars, saturated fats or reducing sodium intake.

A new eight-week session of the program began on Monday, according to an announcement by the Copper City Community Connection.

Copper City Community Connection is a community-based organization working to connect older adults, seniors, and the elderly to a healthy independent lifestyle through social, artistic, educational, and physical programs supporting independence and life within community.
