Continentals win NESCAC men’s golf league championship


NEW HARTFORD — The Hamilton Continentals won the 2022 NESCAC men’s golf league championship by 12 strokes at Yahnundasis Golf Club Sunday. The team is coached by Roman Lauren Cupp.

Hamilton golfers posted a two-day total of 597 to claim the program’s fourth NESCAC title and first since 2003. Tufts finished as the runner-up with a 36-hole total of 609. Middlebury was third at 613 and followed by Trinity (619) in fourth and Amherst (623) in fifth place.

The Hamilton trio of Billy Geach, Jack McKeon and Jacob Zeng finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, on the individual leaderboard to help the Continentals clinch the title. Geach shot a 71 on the first day to lead the field and added a 76 (147).

McKeon carded a pair of 74s (148) and Zeng recorded a 72 on Sunday, shaving five strokes off his first-round score of 77, to finish with a 36-hole total of 149.

Tufts’ Jack Meehan fired a 3-under 68 on Sunday and finished the tournament as the medalist with a two-day total of 143 (75-68).
